FC Richmond's Luis Rendon Named Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year

On May 18, while sitting in his art class at Cosby High School, Luis Rendon had no idea whatwas about to hit him.

In the hallway was former MLS standout, Alecko Eskandarian, ready to come in to the class and let Luis know that he was named Gatorade National Boy’s Soccer Player of the Year.

Luis has played for FC Richmond since he was U9 and currently plays on the FC Richmond Magic 93 team.

A junior at Cosby, Luis is the first Virginia soccer player and the first junior to win the National Award.

Luis spent the rest of the day enjoying the recognition with his teammates, coaches, and members of the Gatorade and ESPN Rise family.

Luis didn’t celebrate too long as he left the next day for Portugal with the US Under-18 National Team.

Congratulations to Luis on being named Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year.
